The Importance of Long-Tail Keywords

Long-tail keywords are an excellent way to connect with your brand’s audience members. But if you don’t know what long-tail keywords are in the context of search engine optimization (SEO), then it can be difficult to understand how it happens.

Incorporating long-tail keywords into an SEO strategy can be vital for a brand to stand out against the competition — or battle for the main keywords the business should rank for.

That being said, most companies can benefit from using long-tail keywords as it helps to attract visitors with a very specific search intent.

Before diving into why long-tail keywords are important for SEO, let’s fist discuss what long-tail keywords are.

What Does Long-Tail Keyword Mean?

Long-tail keywords are more specific and typically niche compared to other keywords which may be more general or broad.

These keywords or phrases are typically longer and more specific than other keywords that can be found in a campaign. Long-tail keywords will see less search traffic but will have a higher conversion value as the search query is for something very specific.

Why Long-Tail Keywords are Important for SEO

Keywords that are more common for brands are typically harder to rank for because there is more competition. Whereas long-tail keywords may have an easier time ranking in search results.

Thanks to the vast offerings found on the internet, long-tail keywords can make it easier for the audience to find your brand’s particular niche.

The longer or more specific the term or phrase is, the more likely the website is to rank for it. Incorporating a group of long-tail keywords into a tailored SEO strategy can lead to an increase in traffic to the website.

Although these keywords are typically lower in search volume, the audience member who lands on the company’s website because of this search is more likely to convert. Whether it’s purchasing a product or signing up for a service, using this type of keyword generally means that there is a stronger interest in what the business has to offer.

So, for example, my parents are in search of a recliner for my 100-year-old grandmother. But the keyword [recliner] is far too broad and won’t give my parents their desired results. Instead, they would have better success with [power lift recliner chair for elderly].

Since the phrase is far more specific, they are more likely to convert — and find something that would be helpful to my grandmother.
